This reminds me of pro wrestler Dean Malenko. I would have loved to see Malenko doing some real grappling/jiu-jitsu/CACC. I’m sure he would have been great and a great teacher. Even if it was staged, it was clear that Dean Malenko was naturally gifted for submission wrestling.

you have to squeeze with your hands and pull backwards with your back and arms puts a lot of pressure on the ankle and calfs 🙂

It is easier setting up the TCL from butterfly guard. Josh Barnett and Erik Paulson used to teach this many years ago. I think if you find Sakuraba’s old instructional, he shows how to set it up from the butterfly, Cheers

@cjmagiera2010 I’m not trying to be pretentious, but I think you’re thinking of the Boston crab. If so, it’s different type of submission. It’s a spine lock that’s pretty dangerous if applied with force.
I teach grappling submission wrestling in san jose and tried this after watching this video. You’ll get a tap for sure problem is its impossible to get! However I was surprised how quick the pain comes. Its basically a double Achilles lock.
but before they are on their belly they are already tapping once you clasp your hands on the leg under that figure four. it’s the same way the leglock works

Actually, I have my own way of doing it. I just want a better way. Just one way, from the guard. I break the guard, stack him on the neck, then put my leg between his and try to very QUICKLY wrap his legs and apply it. Has to be done quick and doesn’t ALWAYS work. Was wanting a better way to do it.
i bet you the sharpshooter wudnt be applicable because you wud prolly give up the heel hook or some other leg lock.
