I think they should be allowed. Jon jones is my favorite fighter and it would odviously devestate his gameplan if he were not allowed to throw elbows.

the only thing about elbows that sux is when they cut and end a fight prematurely which happens ALOT. So i can see an argument for makin them illegal but…i dont think they should be, i like mma because its the closest thing to actual fighting and the less the rules the better imo, within reason.

@vyanez08 plus, it depends on the organization. Elbows to the face are not legal in promotions like Strikeforce, but are legal in the UFC.

12 to 6 elbows should definitely be allowed. They actually do less damage than a 3 to 9 elbow because you can’t get nearly as much weight and power behind the blow. I’ve got no problems with elbows being allowed. They do have a habit of causing fight ending cuts (which is why some promotions ban them), which can suck sometimes, but getting cut is part of the sport. Like anything else, you gotta try and avoid it.

the best thing ppl can say about vlad is he’s tough and experienced. it’s not looking good for him but i don’t think he’s as large an underdog as people are thinking
@PanicPulse Which is strange that elbows are banned when you can head kick people that are down on their knee’s. No elbows..but soccer kicks allowed..very strange lol

I understand that, but how many good stylistic match-ups do they have to give Jones before they stop protecting him? He’s basically won five fights in a row now, when are they going to put him in against another good striker like Machida or at least someone else who’s considered a contender? They are going overboard building up Jones, this is the worst case of them doing this that I’ve ever seen and it’s disgusting. I hope Vlady rips his knee apart, although I expect Jones to win.

i got Jones by TKO, Okami by tko, Griffin by decision, and Ellinberger by decision as well. im posting this b/c the LAST time i made predictions they were DEAD on. best of luck Vladi, b/c i’m on the Jones hype-train FOR SURE and IMO he’ll be the LHW Contender w/in the next 2-3 fights.

Honestly on the Brock fight i dont think Silva would be that effective at such a high weight but if Brock would be willing to get that small then id watch it for sure.

You gotta look at it from the UFC’s perspective Jon Jones is an uber talented 22 year old Matsyushenko is 39 i believe (dont quote me on that im not sure) and though he is very talented he will be done in a few years so they want the young Jones as a superstar to set up newer fans and its not like he doesnt win his fights so in the end Jones’ success is 100% up to him no matter how big a push he gets. (I think Jones will win but dont be surprised if Matsushenko gets a surprise KO)
